Strnad, Oskar, b. Vienna, Oct. 26, 1879, d. Bad Aussee (Styria), Sept. 3, 1935, architect, stage designer, craftsman, designer. 1909-1935 teacher at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts; 1918-1920 designed sketches for theatres-in-the-round, 1923 realisation of the "Drei-Szenen-Theater" (stage divided into 3 parts; circular auditorium); from 1919 stage designer of the Vienna Volkstheater, 1923-1935 worked with M. Reinhardt; produced operas with B. Walter; interior designer for films ("Maskerade", "Episode"), teacher of R. Obsieger and O. Niedermoser.
