Studienberechtigungsprüfung#
Studienberechtigungspruefung, exam introduced in 1985, can be taken by persons aged 23 or older if they can prove successful completion of professional or extra-professional preparatory training (or aged 20 years and over if they have finished at least 4 years of vocational training); like the regular school-leaving exam it offers limited access to universities but is taken for a specific branch of study. The Studienberechtigungspruefung replaces the Berufsreifepruefung (1945) and the Begabtenpruefung (1939).
