Taubstummenunterricht#
Schools for the Deaf and Dumb, introduced in Vienna at the order of Joseph II in 1779, following the example of similar schools in Paris; other such schools were later established at Linz (Upper Austria, 1812), Mils (Tirol, 1830) and Graz (Styria, 1831); soon instruction was also introduced for persons with multiple disabilities. They have been replaced by Sonderschulen for auditively challenged children.
