Telfes im Stubai, Tirol, market town in the district of Innsbruck-Land, alt. 994 m, pop. 1192, area 27.38 km2, bi-seasonal tourist resort (136,348 overnight stays) in the Stubai Valley. - First documented mention in 1133, settlement of the earliest Christian community in the area; parish church (1754/1755 by F. de Paula Penz, gravestone in the choir), in 1957 renovation and alterations of the interior by C. Holzmeister, spire dating back to 1626, frescoes and side altarpieces by A. Zoller (1757), Baroque processional statues and Christmas crib; several houses decorated with impressive frescoes in the town quarter of Gargers as well as in the town centre; Guardian Angel Chapel by C. Holzmeister (1957-1959) on the Schlick Alp. Prehistoric finds in a nearby cave (presumably shrine of the Raetians ).
