b. Freiland near Deutschlandsberg (Styria), July 9, 1892, d. Wilhelmsburg (Lower Austria), June 20, 1973, poet, narrative writer, essay writer, wrote poems in Lower Austrian dialect; headmaster of the secondary modern school at Lilienfeld; man of many interests, as an author firmly rooted in the traditions of his rural home, known for his portraits of poets (E. von Handel-Mazzetti, 1931; L. Trenker, 1933; K. H. Strobl, 1938).
