Theresienfeld#
Theresienfeld, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Wiener Neustadt, alt. 282 m, pop. 1963 (1518 in 1981), area 11.42 km2, in the Steinfeld Plain. - Vocational school of trade and commerce, waterworks; Wiener Neustadt-Ost airfield, construction industry, galvanising plant, carpentry, transport. - Theresienfeld was founded as a settlement for Tirolean farmers by Empress Maria Theresia in 1763; the network of irrigation canals still in existence today dates from that time. Late Baroque parish church (1768) with an outstanding façade on the west tower; monument in honour of Maria Theresia; monument in remembrance of the Turkish wars (1664).
