Trafik#

The name Trafik comes form Arabic "tafriq" = distribute and from Italian "traffico" = trade; in Austria a "Trafik" is a small shop selling cigarettes, cigars and pipe-tobacco. Licences for such shops are in many cases granted on special grounds (war invalids, or handicapped persons and their dependants). In 1995 there were 4,435 independent Trafik shops and 6,259 shops integrated into trading and catering establishments.
