Trapp, Maria Augusta#
b. Vienna, Jan. 26, 1905, d. Morrisville (USA), March 28, 1987, singer; 2nd wife of Baron Georg T. (b. Zadar, Croatia, then Zara, April 4, 1880, d. Boston, USA, May 30, 1947), the famous Austrian submarine captain of World War I. Founded with their 7 daughters and 3 sons (amongst them 7 stepchildren) an a cappella choir directed by Franz Wasner (b. Feldkirchen, Upper Austria, Dec. 28, 1905, d. Salzburg, June 21, 1992). The T. Choir received the 1st prize at the musical competition of the Salzburg Festival in 1937. In 1938 the family emigrated to the USA; 1950 participated in the Salzburg Festival. The T. Choir (also "T. Family Singers") went on world-wide concert tours and became world famous through two films (1956, 1965) of the book "The Sound of Music" by M. A. T.
