Trappisten#
Trappists, popular name (after La Trappe abbey in Normandy) for the "Reformed Cistercians" (OCR) or "Cistercians of the Strict Observance" (OCSO). The reform in favour of strict observance in accordance with the regulae of the first Cisterians of Cîteaux (liturgical prayer, absolute silence, contemplation, asceticism, manual labour, vegetarian diet) began in 1664 and resulted in 1892 in the foundation of a separate order.
