Tratzberg#
Tratzberg, Tirol, palace in the district of Schwaz in the municipality of Stans, built on the eastern slope of the Karwendel mountains. The original castle (documented mention in 1297) was destroyed in a fire in 1490. Tratzberg Palace was built between 1500-1515 (eastern part overlooking the valley, gate building) by Veitjakob and S. Taenzl. It was enlarged and altered in Renaissance style by G. Ilsung between 1560-1571 (mountain part, rectangular building around a courtyard); fine interior (1552/1554, panelling and ceiling from 1510/1515); mural painting (46 m long, painted in 1506/1508)) depicting 148 members of the Habsburg family; exhibition rooms with historic furniture and paintings; palace chapel (1508).
