Ungnad, Hans#
Ungnad, Baron Hans of Sonneck, b. 1493, d. Wietritz, Dec. 27, 1564, statesman. From 1530 Landeshauptmann (provincial governor) of Styria; 1532 won against the Turks at Kreuzer Feld and became commander in chief of the Habsburg troops at the military border. Became a Protestant and left Austria in 1556 to serve the duchy of Wuerttemberg; established a printing house there and was to a large extent responsible for the first printed edition of the bible in a South Slavic language.
