Uttendorf, province of Salzburg, municipality in the district of Zell am See, alt. 804 m, pop. 2,746, area 167.83 km2, bi-seasonal tourist resort (195,082 overnight stays in 1992) near the confluence of the rivers Stubache and Salzach, in the Oberpinzgau region. - Hostel of the mountain rescue service, welfare organisation, lake-side bathing and recreation centre, storage power stations of Uttendorf (built 1950, 27 MW), Schneiderau (built 1940, 35.4 MW) and Enzingerboden (built 1929, 80 MW) run by the OeBB (Austrian Federal Railways), Weisssee glacier cableways; nearby: Tauernmoossee and Weisssee reservoirs. - Cremation cemetery of the Hallstatt Culture; historic mining site (700 B.C.); late Gothic parish church (first documented mention of a church in 1329, present church built in the 15th century), redecorated in Gothic style 1892-1894, with late Gothic figures (around 1470, 1st half of the 16th century) and reliefs (beginning of the 16th century), high altar (1894); 2 chapels in Stubach (18th century); ancient Paarhof and Haufenhof farmsteads; well-known larch-pine forest.
