Viehböck, Franz#
Viehboeck, Franz, b. Vienna, Aug. 24, 1960, electrical engineer. Teaching and research assistant at the Vienna University of Technology. 1988 applied to take part in the space travel project undertaken together with the Soviet Union Austromir. After a 2-year training course, together with the physician Clemens Lothaller, V. was the first Austrian in space. His space flight with the Soviet Russian cosmonauts A. A. Wolkow and T. Aubakirow took place from Oct. 2, 1991, 7:00 am until Oct.10, 1991, 5:12 am. Later worked in the field of space technology in the USA and in Europe.
