Wänke, Heinrich#
b. Linz, Upper Austria, Sept. 5, 1928, cosmochemist. Studied at the University of Vienna, from 1953 at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry at Mainz, Germany, department head of the Institute's department of cosmochemistry (1967-96), at the same time Professor at the J. Gutenberg University at Mainz, also works for many international organisations. Developed with R. Rieder the spectrometer for NASA's Pathfinder Mission to Mars (1997).
