Warscheneckgruppe#
Warscheneck Mountains, mountain range in the Northern Limestone Alps at the border between Upper Austria and Styria, constitutes a continuation of the Totes Gebirge mountains to the east, bordered by the Enns Valley in the south, the Pyhrnpass pass (954 m) in the east, the Steyrtal and Teichltal valleys in the north and the Salzsteigjoch mountain (1,733 m) in the west; contains large flat upland areas. Main summits: Warscheneck (2,388 m) and Hochmoelbing (2,336 m). Lake Gleinkersee (alt. 806 m) at the north foot of the Warscheneck Mountains (near Windischgarsten). Skiing region near Hinterstoder (Huttererboeden, Schafferkogel, Upper Austria) and on the Wurzeralm mountain (Upper Austria), which is accessible by a funicular railway. Teichlboden nature reserve. Mountain refuges: Hochmoelbinghuette (alt. 1,684 m, Styria), Zellerhuette (alt. 1,575 m, Upper Austria), Duemlerhuette (alt. 1,495 m, Upper Austria), Linzer Haus (alt. 1,371 m, Upper Austria). Villages in the valley: Hinterstoder, Vorderstoder, Rossleithen, Windischgarsten, Spital am Pyhrn.
