Wiener Musterbuch#
Wiener Musterbuch (in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna), 56 white and red tinted pen-and-ink drawings on greenish paper attached to folding wooden plates (each 9.5 cm high and 9 cm wide) in a leather cover, originated in Bohemia or Austria 1410-1420; it was used by a travelling artist as a collection of patterns. Its depictions (including 39 portraits and half-length portraits as well as animals and fabulous creatures) show Bohemian, French and Italian influences and give an impression of the abundance of forms of the International Style.
