Wlaschek, Karl#
b. Vienna, Aug. 4, 1917, entrepreneur. After World War I, earned his living as a pianist and band leader (pseudonym: Charly Walker); started his career as an entrepreneur with a cosmetics discount store in 1953; founded a chain of supermarkets in 1960, which he developed into one of Austria's largest trade groups, Billa-Konzern. From 1991 set up the "Eurobilla" branch shops of abroad (in Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary). Integrated this group into the K.-W. Private Foundation in 1994. It was sold to the German Rewe group in 1996, with the exception of the Libro chain ( Libro AG), which was sold in 1997. Since then Karl Wlaschek has concentrated his activities on the real estate sector.
