Zach, Andreas#
b. Vienna, Sept. 25, 1736, d. Vienna, Feb. 16, 1797, architect. Designed the "Schottenkloster" monastery in Vienna. Planned many castles and a number of parks for the high aristocracy (at Rohrau, 1777; at Alt-Erlaa, 1779; at Eferding, 1785). Tended to blend baroque and classicist elements (e.g. the "Schubladkastenhaus" ("chest-of-drawers" building) at the Freyung in Vienna, 1774); also known as a representative of Early Romantic Historicism.
