Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und Geodynamik, ZAMG#

Zentralanstalt fuer Meteorologie und Geodynamik, ZAMG (Central Institute of Meteorology and Geodynamics), established 1851, initially in Vienna's 4th district, since 1873 in Vienna's 19th district (Hohe Warte), with regional offices in Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, Salzburg and Graz. Full-time observatories and weather stations are located in St. Poelten, Retz, Kufstein and Bregenz, and on the Sonnblick, Feuerkogel and Villacher Alpe mountains. The ZAMG has special departments for synoptic meteorology (weather forecasts), climatology, environmental meteorology and geophysics (seismology, geomagnetism) as well as environmental geophysics and engineering geophysics. Carries out research, gives expert opinions, provides information, and represents Austria in international projects; meteorological and geophysical data are saved in the Institute's archives.
