Zsigmondy, Emil#
b. Vienna, Aug. 11, 1861, d. on a climbing tour in the Meije mountains in the Dauphine region (France), Aug. 6, 1885, alpinist; brother of Richard Zsigmondy. >From 1876 undertook numerous first ascents in the Alps, some of them together with L. Purtscheller. The Zsigmondy Peak in the Austrian Zillertal Alps, the Pic Zsigmondy on La Meije mountain in France and the Zsigmondy-Huette (Z. lodge) in the Sesto Dolomites in South Tyrol were named after him.
