Zugspitze#
Zugspitze Mountain, alt. 2,961 m, highest peak of the Wettersteingebirge Mountains, Germany´s highest mountain, bordering on Tyrol, the eastern half is located in Bavaria. The Tyrolean Zugspitzbahn aerial cableway was opened in 1926 and replaced by a large-capacity cableway in 1991. It leads from Ehrwald (Obermoos base terminal) up to Zugspitze summit (with restaurants). A roofed footpath leads to the German side. Zugspitze Mountain museum. Skiing region. First ascent: J. Naus together with the server Maier and J. G. Deuschl in 1820.
