b. Dornbirn (Vorarlberg), Jan. 24, 1904, d. Dornbirn (Vorarlberg), May 17, 2000, entrepreneur; father of Martin Zumtobel Jr. Studied at the Universities of Cologne and Innsbruck; 1926 joined his father's business dealing in foodstuffs; became managing partner in 1937; set up a warehouse in Salzburg in 1938; co-founder of the A&O group of retail stores.
