La Paz La Paz, Departamento La Paz, Bolivien , the administrative capital of Bolivia, is the worlds highest capital city (3,660 m; 12,005 ft). It was founded under the name Nuestra Senora de la Paz (Our Lady of Peace) in 1548 by Spanish conquistadores.
