Schorndorf Schorndorf, Germany near Stuttgart was first mentioned in a document in 1235. Today, the entire complex of the historic city centre of Schorndorf is under monumental protection, its historic half-timbered houses around the market square with its fountain are among the finest in Germany. But here also, in March 1834, Gottlieb Daimler, inventor of the first lightweight gasoline engine was born. In front of the town hall a monument was erected in the honour of the most famous son of the city to mark the 700th jubilee of the city and the 50th anniversary of his death.
Schorndorf Schorndorf, Germany bei Stuttgart wurde erstmals 1235 urkundlich erwähnt. Heute steht der historische Stadtkern von Schorndorf als Gesamtanlage unter Denkmalschutz, seine historischen Fachwerkbauten rund um den Marktplatz mit seinem Marktbrunnen zählen zu den schönsten in Deutschland. Hier wurde aber auch im März 1834 Gottlieb Daimler, der Erfinder des ersten leichten Benzinmotors, geboren. Dem berühmtesten Sohn der Stadt wurde vor dem Rathaus ein Denkmal anlässlich des 700-jährigen Stadtjubiläums und seines 50. Todestages errichtet.
