Prawy, Marcel#
b. Vienna, Dec. 29, 1911, music writer and journalist, studied law. From 1955 dramatic advisor at the Vienna Volksoper, where he introduced the musical in Europe ("Kiss me, Kate", 1956, German version by Marcel Prawy); from 1972 head dramaturge of the Vienna State Opera. From 1976-1982 professor at the Vienna Musikhochschule*; lecturer for theatrical sciences at the University of Vienna, guest lecturer at numerous American and Japanese universities. Well-known as an opera expert from numerous TV and radio programmes; friend of numerous famous singers and musicians (e.g. L. Bernstein). Honorary member of the Vienna State Opera.
