Weichselbaum, Anton#
Weichselbaum, Anton, b. Schiltern (Lower Austria), Feb. 8, 1845, d. Vienna, Oct. 22, 1920. Anatomist; was the first to discover tubercle bacilli in the blood of a human corpse. Played an important role in the further development of cancerology, the pathology of joints and cartilages and conducted research into diabetes. Important achievements in fighting alcoholism; founder of the first pulmonological sanatorium in Austria (Alland, Lower Austria).
