Open education requires planning strategies to produce anddisseminate knowl-
edge, in such away that its impact is transferable to different areas, beyondwhere
theywere generated. The authors agreewhen they state the need for dynamic and
knowledge-based practices (Chesbrough, 2012) aswell as the need to share publi-
cations and researchdata to contribute to the advancement of science (Aleixandre-
Benaventetal.,2015).Figure10.8presents themapofcollaborativeresearch.Like-

postgraduates and in themore than 200,000MOOCparticipants, aswell as in the
more than 5000OER that emanated from theMOOCpieces. Research and open

10.5 Conclusions
The open educational movement has an important impulse with theOER; in this
impulse, it is possible to createopportunities for constructingeducational practices
withgreat reach.Oneof these reacheshasbeengiven through theMOOCs that can
have a coverage in the formation and construction of very wide knowledge. The
developments ofOERandMOOCmust take careof theproperties of accessibility,
scalabilityandaboveallofquality,bothpedagogicaland technological,withaview
toachievingcontributionsof relevance toeducation.
The question that guided this writing was:What contributions can arise from
formativeinstancessuchasMOOCsandOERforopeneducationandopenscience?
The results showcontributions foropeneducation in theareas:
• Open innovation (through the transfer OER and MOOCs and linkage with
Government,Companies, Institutions,NGOsandCivilSociety),
• Open research (with educational innovations for open environmentswith tech-
nologies,servicesandstrategiesforopenscience, laboratoryforsocial innovation
andconsultancy ineducational research)and
• Open science (with goodpractice of collaborative construction andvisibility of
knowledge, throughmore than5000OERavailable openly in theRitec, built in
theOpenergyLab, digitized postgraduate theses andOERproduced in the bina-
tional laboratory, and also, contributed with a protocol for evaluating the user
experienceofamanagementmodel that involvesvisibilitymechanismsofscien-
tific production, thus contributing to incremental innovationwith open systems
togivevisibility toknowledgeandopenscience).
The findings can contribute to academic communities (students, teachers,
researchers, administrators), social communities, government, business and deci-
sionmakers interestedinlearningenvironmentsandopeneducationalpractices.The
