Atzenbrugg#
Atzenbrugg, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Tulln, alt. 186 m, pop. 2,322, area 25.94 km2, between Herzogenburg and Tulln on the River Perschling. District office of the Red Cross, metal processing, group medical practise.- First documented in 2nd half of the 12th century; palace built from farmhouse in 14th century, 2-winged complex (16th/17th centuries), expanded as Schubert Museum and cultural centre from 1978 (Schubertiaden); since its renovation in 1998 the palace has also been the location of a centre for folk culture of the province of Lower Austria; in the Schlosspark artificial hill (Waasen) with small Baroque pavilion ("Schubert-Haeuschen"). The Aumuehle mill is also in the vicinity (turned into small palace in 17th-19th centuries); in the cadastral district of Heiligeneich is a Baroque parish church.
