Auersperg, Adelsgeschlecht#
Auersperg, noble family from Carniola, first mentioned in 1220; divided into two lines in the 15th century; the older branch was given the title of baron in 1530 and count in 1630, the younger received the title of imperial prince in 1653; A. Palace (formerly Rofrano) in Vienna has belonged to the family since 1781; in 1945 it was the seat of the Austrian resistance movement; the building was extensively restored and since 1954 has been used for exhibitions and other events.
