Ausländerbeschäftigung#
Employment of Aliens in Austria, governed by the Auslaenderbeschaeftigungsgesetz (Law on Alien Employment) of 1975. The goal of the Law is to make the labour market accessible to aliens only when the domestic demand for jobs is insufficient. This is achieved on the one hand by setting quotas for the number of aliens employed in Austria, and on the other hand by requiring aliens (with the exception of EU citizens) to obtain an official work permit in order to be employed.
