Bürgertheater#
Buergertheater, former playhouse in the 3rd district of Vienna, inaugurated in 1905; converted into an operetta stage in 1910 (composer in residence of the Buergertheater E. Eysler, from 1926 revue operettas); temporarily closed during World War II; associated with the Theater in der Josefstadt and managed by F. Stoss in 1945 (performances of popular plays); efforts made in 1953 to take a new direction under the name of "Broadway Stage" failed. The Buergertheater was demolished in 1960 and the site was used for the new headquarters of the Central Savings Bank of the Municipality of Vienna.
