Collin, Heinrich Joseph von#
b. Vienna, Dec. 26, 1771, d. Vienna, July 28, 1811, dramatist, poet, journalist; brother of Matthaeus von Collin. Developed a new concept of tragedy influenced by P. Metastasio, F.G. Klopstock and Goethe's "Iphigenie". Wrote patriotic poetry such as the "Songs of Austrian Soldiers" (Lieder oe. Wehrmaenner) (1809) and theoretical essays on aesthetics. Tomb in Karlskirche (church in Vienna).
