Filzmoos, province of Salzburg, municipality in the district of St. Johann, alt. 1,055 m, pop. 1,137, area 75.71 km2, a bi-seasonal tourist resort and place of pilgrimage (465,992 overnight stays) situated in the Dachstein region at the foot of Bischofsmuetze mountain (alt. 2,018 m). - Golf course, Aumuehle Youth Centre, Papageno cableway to Rossbrand peak (alt. 1,770 m). - First documented mention in 1273, Gothic parish church (1474) with western tower (1546), frescoes (around 1515) and bread of charity (end of the 15th century), Calvary, old paarhof farmhouses (in part from the 17th century).
