Frauenstein, Gemeinde#

Frauenstein, Carinthia, municipality in the district of St. Veit an der Glan, alt. 630 m, pop. 3,311, Frauenstein Castle was built in 1519-1521 on the foundations of an older construction and expanded in the 16th century. Summer courtyard, coats of arms sculpted in stone, gravestone dating back to Roman times, interior with stucco facades and paintings (18th century). The surroundings boast Kraig Castles, the ruins of Freiberg and Nussberg Castles, a late Gothic-Baroque parish church Obermuehlbach, and near Schaumboden, alt. 1,183 m, a log-construction church.
