Heeresorganisation#

Army Organisation; after the reorganisation of the armed forces in 1994 the major units of the Austrian Federal Armed Forces consist of 3 corps and one air force division in times of peace. On mobilisation a corps (manpower approx. 20,000) can be assigned 3 or more brigades (mechanised or rifle brigdes, manpower approx. 5,000) and also regiments (rifle, artillery, reconnaissance and headquarters regiments). Brigades and regiments are subdivided into battalions (up to 1,100) consisting of 5 to 6 companies.
