Helfenberg#

Helfenberg, Upper Austria, municipality in the district of Rohrbach im Muehlkreis, alt. 567 m, pop. 1,116, area 9.59 km2, on the Steinerne Muehl river, in the northern Muehlviertel region close to the border with the Czech Republic. - Textile industry (manufacture of linen, trousers, towels, etc.), wooden staircases, electric power station (private, in the municipality of Afiesl, covers 70 % of the power consumption of Helfenberg). - Baroque parish church 1712-1716 built by J. M. Prunner (Gothic remains), sculptures by Philipp Rambler (1714); castle (first documented mention 1224) rebuilt 1607.
