Hollenstein an der Ybbs#
Hollenstein an der Ybbs, Lower Austria, municipality in the district of Amstetten, alt. 485 m, pop. 1,948, area 126.37 km2, old hammermill town in the Ybbstal valley, in the Eisenwurzen region. Small power stations: Schreybach (in Oberkirchen) and Kesselgraben; schools: 2 agricultural schools in Garnberg and Dornleiten); electrical installations factory, building trade. Baroque parish church (1765) with heavy Gothic tower and Gothic choir (as side chapel) situated high above Hollenstein an der Ybbs on a hill on the River Ybbs, late-Baroque high altar (painting 1832 by J. Preitschopf), side altars with tabernacle paintings by M. J. Schmidt (around 1767). Calvary around 1750.
