Iuvavum#
Iuvavum, Roman settlement mentioned by Pliny the Elder and Ptolemy, in the Tabula Peutingeriana and in the Itinerarium Antonini; made an autonomous city (Municipium Claudium Iuvavum) under Emperor Claudius (AD 41-54). The Vita Severini mentions a monk's cell and a church near the oppidum Iuvao. The name dates back to the pre-Roman era. Site of the present city of Salzburg.
