KELAG, Kärntner Elektrizitäts-AG#
KELAG, Kaerntner Elektrizitaets-AG, the main power supplier in Carinthia providing electricity, gas and heating (district heating and short-distance heating) for all of Carinthia with the exception of Klagenfurt and a few other privately supplied areas; established in 1923 under the name KAeWAG, changed into KELAG in 1939, merged with the local electricity suppliers of the towns of Villach, St. Veit, Feldkirchen, Wolfsberg and Spittal in 1948. KELAG owns 48 power stations (maximum capacity: 450.6 MW), 17,000 km of high and low voltage lines, 41 distributing substations and more than 6,430 transformer stations; it has been expanding Carinthia´s natural gas supply since 1974 and the heating network since 1990.
