Kartelle#
Cartels are associations or agreements of firms which remain legally independent and aim at increasing their earning position by exerting some restrictive influence on competition. A cartel is only permitted by law if a cartel agreement has been filed and approved and if it is designed to increase economic output. In Austria the courts that have jurisdiction over cartel proceedings are the cartel court, which forms part of the Oberlandesgericht Wien and the supreme cartel court at the Supreme Court. The Cartel Law of 1988 embodies provisions on cartel agreements and other practices restraining competition.
