Kilb#
Kilb, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Melk, alt. 300 m, pop. 2,487, area 45.12 km2, situated in the Sierningtal Valley at the northern foothills of the Alps. - Kilb manufactures pallets and wooden prefab houses, has a warehouse and some building industry. - Late Gothic staggered hall church with an impressive fortified tower (1519) and Baroque stone spire (1762-1772), reticulated vault and richly ornamented stellar rib vault, (designed by the Steyr Bauhuette in the second half of the 15th century), fine interior with paintings by M. J. Schmidt and J. Wetzl (1798-1800).
