Kirchberg an der Pielach#
Kirchberg an der Pielach, Lower Austria, market town in the district of St. Poelten, alt. 372 m, pop. 3,197, area 63.52 km2, situated at the confluence of the Soisbach and Pielach streams in the northern foothills of the Alps. - Kirchberg manufactures wooden fences, furniture and windows; gymnastic equipment factory, some building industry; tourist centre; Kirchberg multipurpose complex hall. - Late Gothic basilica with nave walls resting on pillars, early Gothic choir and a impressive fortified tower (around 1500), net and rib vault from the 15th century, neo-Gothic interior (1890-1906); fortified rectory; castle (16th /17th centuries).
