Lichnowsky, böhmische Adelsfamilie#
Lichnowsky, noble family from Bohemia. Johann von Woschuetz, highest judge of the principality of Jaegerndorf (Silesia), named himself Lichnowsky after his Lichen (Lichnow) estate in 1491. The family were made Bohemian counts in 1727, Prussian counts in 1773 and Austrian princes in 1846. Members of the family included Prince Carl L. (1761-1814), patron of L. van Beethoven; Prince Eduard L. (1789-1845), author of a "History of the Habsburg dynasty", (8 vols., 1836-1844, with valuable excerpts from documents); Prince Felix L. (1814-1848), patron of F. Liszt; and Count Robert L. (1822-1879), Canon at Olmuetz.
