Lichtenwörth#
Lichtenwoerth, Lower Austria, district of Wiener Neustadt, alt. 254 m, pop. 2,723, area 22.87 km2, between Rivers Leitha and Warmer Fischa, north-east of Wiener Neustadt. Multi-purpose hall; 2 mills, metal-working (transporting plant, production of pipes). - Castle mentioned in 1254 was destroyed between 1487-1490 and replaced by Winkelmuehle Mill, on which location the state-run metalware and brass-needle factory "Nadelburg" was founded in 1753. Next to the factory a settlement with 30 houses was established and encircled by a wall. Denationalised in 1769, the wire drawing mills were replaced by rolling mills before 1848 and a cotton mill was also added. - Parish church (15th century, completed in 1887); Trinity column (1779); 4 memorial columns, one with blazon (1470).
