Lucona-Skandal#
Lucona Affair: 1977 the ship "Lucona" belonging to the Viennese coffeehouse owner U. Proksch was sunk in the Indian Ocean; six people lost their lives. The lawsuit in which Proksch was accused of insurance fraud lasted years. To clarify political connections, particularly to the Social-Democrats ("Club 45"), a parliamentary fact-finding committee was set up between 1988-1989, in the course of which the president of the Nationalrat, L. Gratz, resigned. The trial against Proksch ended in 1992, he was found guilty of murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment.
