Maerz, Leopold, b.Bruenn (Brno, Czech Republic), Feb. 5, 1944, food chemist and biochemist. Studied food technology and bioengineering at the University of Agricultural Sciences in Vienna and at the State University of New York; 1969 teaching assistant and 1983 Professor at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Vienna, since 1993 Rector of the University. Focuses on biochemistry; more than 70 papers for scientific journals and meetings.
