Maschinenkomödie#
Maschinenkomoedie, one genre of the Volkstheater popular in Vienna during the 18th century. Refined version of the "Bernadoniade" (improvised "magic" burlesque containing elements of the Baroque opera, as well as pantomime and musical interludes) named after the well-known impromptu actor, J. F. Kurz(Bernardon). The helplessness displayed by presumptuous individuals in the face of irrational powers accounts for the comic aspect of these plays.
