Meister des Andreasaltars auch Meister des Domaltärchens, Meister der Passionsfolgen#

Meister des Andreasaltars (also: Meister des Domaltaerchens, Meister der Passionsfolgen), painter, worked in Vienna around 1430/1450. He is named after an altar dedicated to St. Andreas from before 1440 (now kept at the Cathedral and Diocesan Museum in Vienna). In 1885, it was brought to St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna with the altar of Wiener Neustadt from Neukloster monastery at Wiener Neustadt. The working method demonstrates how the Soft Style gradually hardened during the second quarter of the 15th century and how a new realistic attitude towards the human body began to gain ground; the altar shows strong stylistic affinities to the work of the Meister der St. Lambrechter Votivtafel (Master of the votive panel of St. Lambrecht). Among his works are also two panels depicting the Capture and Derision of Christ (around 1430-1440), which are exhibited in the Oesterreichische Galerie Belvedere).
