Muttertag#
Mother´s Day (2nd Sunday in May), day on which motherhood is celebrated; first celebrated in America in 1905, introduced in Austria in the 1920s on the American model at the suggestion of Marianne Hainisch by the "Bund der oesterreichischen Frauenvereine" (Federation of Austrian Women´s Organisations) founded by her. Mother's Day has found general acceptance as a secular commemoration day on which mothers are particularly honoured in a symbolic way.
