Nationalpolitische Erziehungsanstalten#

National Political Institutes of Education, Napolas (short for Nationalpolitische Erziehungsanstalten), boarding-schools established by the Nazi rulers from 1938-1945 to educate future Nazi leaders; these schools had the same curriculum as secondary schools but emphasized physical training. Only "racially flawless" (no pupils wearing glasses or hard of hearing) boys and girls "of above-average intelligence" were accepted (8-day entrance exams). The Austrian Federal Schools in Vienna ( Theresianum in the 4th district and Breitensee barracks in the 14th district) and in Traiskirchen (Lower Austria) were turned into Napolas for boys, others were founded in St. Paul im Lavanttal (Carinthia), Goettweig (Lower Austria), Seckau and Vorau (Styria). The Napolas for girls were established in Tuernitz (first to fourth form) and in Hubertendorf bei Blindenmarkt,(fifth to eighth form), both in Lower Austria.
